Q: How does a TAG work?
A: Each TAG has a small unique radio token in it. When you tap the TAG to the phone, the Golf Pad app reads the token and records the GPS position of the shot and the club used. That's all it needs to compute shot distances and generate amazing game statistics, in real time.
Q: I have a case on my phone. Can I still scan Golf Pad TAGS?
A: Scanning tags through a phone case often works fine, but it depends on case material. Most plastic or leather cases work well, however, metal cases can block or interfere with NFC radio. If your case uses magnets, it's possible they may interfere if they are located near the phone. RFID blockers or any kind of metal covering blocking the phone will interfere.
Q: Is it possible to scan Golf Pad TAGS with my NFC-equipped smartwatch?
A: At this time all NFC-equipped smartwatches (including Samsung's Galaxy watches) can only act as passive NFC transmitters. None of them are capable of scanning NFC tags. If/when watch manufacturers add tag reading capability, we'll be sure to support it in Golf Pad.
Q: Do I need to constantly fiddle with my phone while using Golf TAGS?
A: No! You can be as hands-on or hands-off as you want to be. Some golfers just leave the phone in their pocket through the entire round. Others are eager to know the distance of their drive the moment they get to the ball. Which kind are you?
Q: Will I need to change batteries inside the TAGS?
A: No, there are no batteries to be changed or recharged.
Q: How much do Golf Pad TAGS™ weigh? Will they impact my club weight or balance?
A: Golf Pad TAGS™ weigh 1.9 grams per tag. Due to this being such a small amount of weight and the low-profile design of the TAGS, there is virtually no impact on club weight or balance.
