Using Golf Pad Click During a Round

Modified on Mon, 26 Oct at 4:17 PM

Once your Golf Pad Click is paired and your button actions are set, you can use it hands-free throughout your round, and your phone can stay in your pocket.

Before you start

  • Start or resume a round in the Golf Pad app.
  • Make sure your Click is connected.
  • Have your audio ready: phone speaker, earbuds or a Bluetooth speaker.

The Click status button

When a round is active, a Click status button appears in the round toolbar. Its color tells you the current state:

  • Green: connected, battery good
  • Yellow: low battery
  • Red: disconnected or error

Tap it anytime to open your Click settings.

Playing with Click

Press the button to trigger your assigned action: hear your distances, get AI Caddie Advice or log your shots, all announced out loud through your connected audio device. Use a single, double or triple click depending on how you set up your actions.

  • AI Caddie Advice: you'll hear a short ding while the advice is on its way. Near the green, it simply tells you the distance to the middle of the green.
  • Right hole, every time: if hole auto-advance is on, each press first moves the app to the hole you're actually playing, so you always hear distances for the right hole.
  • No round yet? Press the button and Click will tell you what that press does during a round.
  • Rules-compliant mode: AI Caddie Advice, club recommendations and last shot distances aren't available.

Tracking your shots

There's no separate before and after click. One click marks one shot, from the spot where you play it:

  • At your ball, when you take your shot, click. Golf Pad marks the shot at your current location.
  • Walk to your ball and click again when you play your next shot. The app measures the previous shot's distance automatically from the GPS positions of the two marks.
  • On the green, the same click records a putt (with Track shot/putt (auto)).

After each shot, Click confirms it out loud, for example "Shot recorded. Last shot 152 yards". You can turn these confirmations off in Preferences > Golf Pad Click > Sound > Announce tracked shots.

With Automatically assign clubs on, Golf Pad picks the club for each tracked shot based on its distance. These clubs show an A badge in your shot list.

You choose which gesture does shot tracking (single, double or triple click) in Preferences > Golf Pad Click.

More shot tracking actions

  • Mark flag: on the green, press to record the pin's exact position so your distances play to the real flag.
  • Track penalty: adds a penalty stroke.
  • Current tracking shot distance: tells you how far you've hit the shot you're tracking.

See Customizing Your Golf Pad Click Button Actions to assign them.

Staying connected

Keep the Golf Pad app running during your round. If the app is in the background and you haven't played for a while (about 30 minutes, or 10 minutes after you leave the course), Golf Pad disconnects Click to save battery. It reconnects automatically when you're back in the app or on the course.
